How to measure your back set

Hey, I am Leo with Deanlock.com and we're here today to help you measure your back set. Normally on residential you'll find your back set to be two and three eighths, and normally on commercial you'll find your back set to be two and three quarters. Mind you we are measuring in inches.

The way to measure for your back set is you grab your tape measure go to the edge of the door and pull it across. Here we have this bottom hole drilled out for two and three quarters. You either measure at the center of the key hole or at the center of the lock on top I like to measure on top, it just helps me get a better read.

This mount on top we drilled for two and three eighths. You pull your tape measure across and look at the center of the hole. And it measures out at two and three-eighths.

Okay now that I have shown you how to measure on this mount, now I would like to take you to a real door and we will get a measurement on a door that's already installed with the lock on it. The first thing you want to do is but go ahead and open your door.

Again you are going to grab your tape measure go to the edge of the door and pull across and see where lines up at the center of a lock. Here we are in a commercial application, and this is why you always double check your back set. This measures out for two and three eighths, the back set needed for this door would be a two and three eighths backset.

Hopefully this helped, and got everybody on the same page.

It is something that only takes a couple of minutes to do, and it will save you a lot of time. Because we all know time is money now-a-days.

It does not take long to grab a tape measure pull it across your door and measure your back set.

Thank you and I hope this helped.
